On Sunday, I flew the flag for the Harriers at the 54th annual Tom Scott 10 Mile race, held as usual at Strathclyde Park. A chilly breeze greeted the record breaking 300 runners for the usual 2 lap route around Strathclyde loch. The event is quite unique in that the 6km race alongside the 10mile for the first quarter, making it quite easy to get carried away with the pace at the beginning. After a few weeks of inactivity due to various niggles, I started off a bit slower than usual and did not really hit my stride until 4 miles in where I managed to pick up the pace and finish fairly strongly just as the sun was coming out. This was my 2nd time running the event, and I managed to take 4 minutes off my time from last year
The race was won by Tewolde Menigsteab in 50:49 and first female was Fionnuala Ross in 55:50. A new female course record and a double victory for Shettleston Harriers.
Of the 300 runners, I finished in 138th place in 1:09:58.
