Around Cumbrae 10 miler

Last Sunday (14th September) a squad of Maryhill Harriers headed ‘doon the water’ to Millport for the Around Cumbrae 10 mile Road Race. After 3 attempts to catch the ferry (!), we finally made it across alongside over 200 other runners. The sun was shining and the conditions were near perfect, although we did have to contend with a little wind for the first half of the race. The race is flat and allows you to enjoy some fabulous views and clean sea air all the way round – just watch out for the cyclists!

All the Harriers ran well but agreed that by mile 8 the legs were starting to turn to jelly and the long drag uphill during the last mile of the race was a bit of a killer!

A great day out though and we’re looking foward to next year already!
