The Mhor trilogy takes the format of a 10k in April, a half marathon in June and the marathon in August.
It is organised by Tay fitness and all races are extremely well organised and marshalled.
10k : This starts and finishes at Balquidder. It consists of a 2k out and back before turning to
go 4K straight up the hill and then 4k back down to the finish.
Half Marathon : This race starts and finishes at the Mhor 84 hotel. It consists of a figure 8 format
of 8 mile and 5 mile loops.
Marathon : On Sunday the 6th August I completed the Mhor Marathon which is the third and final race of the series.
The race started at 10.00am in Callander with a slightly flatter start than last year.
Thr route follows the path along the side of Loch Lubnaig and past the log cabins at Strathyre, all the way to Balquidder .
Here you begin the loop back to Strathyre back to Balquidder. This begins a 4 mile climb along the side of Loch Voil.
Just before 26m there is a small boat crossing where you can indulge in a Coke, water or a Pimms.
After this it is the final push(uphill) to the finish.
I managed to avoid the rain all day.
These are very scenic and unique races in a beautiful part ogf the country.
Thoroughly recommended.
