DAAA XC Country Relays

This weekend was the Dunbartonshire AAA cross country relays, the second race in this years Merit league. The relays took place in the Duchess Woods just on the north side of Helensburgh and involved a 4K two-lap course involving forest trails, a stream, a rugby pitch and quite a tough hill climb. A

few of us had done this course back in 2011, however, the dry sunny weather we’ve had in the last few weeks made it easier under foot and for slightly faster times. The mens race was won by Victoria Park A in a time of 56.52 after the Hares and Hounds of Glasgow University who were leading for most of the race, got lost on the last leg. First and second place in the ladies race was won by Dumbarton.
The Maryhill Harriers were out in force with two ladies teams and 1.5 mens teams. The first ladies team came home in 9th place with the other team finishing in 13th. The menss team finished in 11th place, while the other finished their 2nd leg in 17th.
