After much hyped promise of internal battles only three Maryhill Harriers eventually toed the line in the 29th Alloa Half Marathon. Mick McCartney led the Maryhill contingent home dropping only 4 seconds from last year’s race but picking up two places in his M50 category to place a very credible 10th.Caroline Hassan was second home for the club knocking a fantastic 3 minutes from her PB, followed by the coo’s tail, me (Chris) in a time second only to last week’s PB, and 31s faster than last year, so we all took positives from the race in some form or other. However after the race Caroline treated us to a Kentucky Fried Chicken where I finished first in all categories.
The race had a thrilling finish with Mengisteab (1:06:27) Gillespie (1:06:27) and Twelde (1:06:28) all from Shettleston Harriers finishing within 1 second of each other, with Nathalie Chistie (1:20:28) of Edinburgh AC being the first female home.
