Anyway, I got on the 10.01 train at Bishopton and instantly got a boost at other runners impressed by my professional appearance in Harriers hoodie and trousers (all that was missing was a woolly hat).
Keeping warm with a bin bag I actually felt good at the start and if anything felt this was the best conditions I have run this distance in.
My plan was to be more consistent on my pacing and not run my usual 10k pace for the first 10k. It worked a treat as my fastest split was 4.05 and slowest was 4.40. My only regret was that in the final 400m I never realised how close I was to my PB or would have pushed further – overall though, it was great to get the half marathon bug back again.
