Balloch to Clydebank Half Marathon

On Sunday, the annual Balloch to Clydebank half marathon organised by DAAA took place in perfect cold, damp conditions for running. The start of the race was delayed due to everyone being issued with a second timing check. Anyway, we got off around 9.20 am.

The course was the usual route through Balloch, Alexandria, Dumbarton and then into Clydebank. For me, this is one of my favourite half marathon courses which is generally flat and has what feels like a really fast section along the cycle path through Dumbarton. My tactics for the race was to run a constant four minute/km which I managed to do, except for the last one, when I ended up running a little faster when racing with a couple of guys from other clubs.

On the day, 436 runners completed the race, which was won by Robert Gilroy (Ronhill Cambuslang Harriers) in a time of 1.08:21. First female in 43rd place was Lauren Quee (Glasgow University Hares and Hounds) in a time of 1.22:34.
The mighty blues has eight runners. Chip times and positions were:

48th Andy Sutherland (1.23:25)
65th Craig White (1.26:05)
226th Michael Kemp (1.42.35) PB
239th Catriona Nisbet (1.43:46)
297th Chris Hever (1.48.55)
336th Linda Sinclair (1.53:28) PB
380th Margaret Peebles (2.02.35)
391st Fletcher Murdoch (2.06:28)

Finally, a big thanks to all the MH marshalls near the end of the race for cheering us through the final stages.
