The ladies 10k is the biggest woman only race in Britain, the course is fairly flat except for a couple of killer hills in Pollock Park. The winner finished in an amazing 32.08 (a Kenyan) & the first Scot was in at 34.15 & the first junior came in at 38.04.
(Do these folk do nothing else but run?)
We hardy Maryhill girls pulled a few strokes ourselves. Not only was Caroline our first gal home but she shaved minutes from her previous best, well done Mrs! Lisa made her debut for the club & also picked up a Pb.
I feel I need to mention the support as I seen it, Sheina & Chris were at the start with a few of us & I spotted them before the 1st k, Chris was flashing & Sheina shouting encouragement. I then heard some chap shout my name but I was a bit delirious by then, but I’m pretty sure it was Peter, maybe between 3 & 4k? Then the dreaded park was upon us & I spotted Kenny also flashing & Heather, I started my hill climb & who popped out in front of me but Linda S, with some choice words that helped me on my way.
Leaving the park the Clyde 1 road show perked us up a bit with some cheesy music (I didn’t feel like a champion, felt like a sit down though), the next two I saw where Alasdair & Johnny, there could only have been a few hundred meters left by then but it could easily have been 2 mile, I believe Sheina & Chris were on the home straight, but I never seen them & if I missed anyone out I apologise, all your support was greatly appreciated by us all, some of us were loosing the will to live at times & that cheery wee greeting certainly helped. Thank you.
