Stirling Triathlon

Despite early registration times (6.15-7.30am) and a horrible hill in the run section, I would thoroughly recommend this race. It was well organised and hosted three events over three distances: Junior, Novice and Sprint.

I did the sprint event (which can also be entered as a team).

The 750M swim was held in Stirling University pool, which impressively raises the floor to enable those of us who are vertically challenged to exit the pool with some dignity. The 20K bike route headed out on the open road towards Glenochil and back taking in sights such as the Wallace monument. The 5K run was twice round the university campus (twice up horrendous hill) but with a finishing on the race track. This meant I could pretend to be in “Chariots of Fire” and give a magnificent sprint finish in front of at least……..20 people.

I finished 130th out of 231, 8th in my catagory of decrepit women and got a PB of 1.27.

I shall return.
