We had a go at this race last Sunday which is 11 miles and 3400ft of climbing over East and West Lomond hills.
The route starts in a wood on forest tracks heading up on to the open ground to East Lomond. Once you have finished the climb here you retrace your route back to the open ground before contouring the crags below West Lomond. There is a steep gully through these crags to start the climb to West Lomond. The descent off west Lomond is the steepest in the Scottish Hill racing calendar, and most people slide down the grass on their bums (you can search you tube for Lomonds of Fife Hill race to see people doing this). Once at the bottom you climb partially back up the hill before diagonally traversing back to the wood to the finish.
I really enjoy the afternoon, great route, well organised race, nice tea after the race and lots of fun all round.
The race was won by Mark Harris, Fife AC, in 1:27:44.
First Female was Rowena Bell Scott, in 1:48:03
I finished 37th in 1:52 and Sarah was 83rd in 2:08:45.
There were 116 finishers.
Thanks to Lomond Hill Runners for putting on the race and the marshals for being out on the hills.
