Aberfoyle Glow Ape Night Run

Margaret takes another run out at the magical Glow Ape Night Run in Aberfoyle

On Sunday the 13th October I travelled to Aberfoyle to participate in the 2nd Glow Ape Night run.

This was also my 2nd time here however the weather was torrential this time around. The event  starts/finishes at the David Marshall Lodge and is organised by Tay Fitness. There is a 1m family fun route for toddlers, buggies etc. and a 10k route for adults.

The first kilometre has the trees and paths all lit up, which is beautiful to run through, then its off into the dark of the forest. At 2.5k it takes a sharp left up a 500m climb which didn’t feel as bad as last year and I even managed to overtake a few people. Refreshments at the top.

Then again at 6.5k another sharp left and a 250m climb, more refreshments. Then on to the finish where the last kilometre is also lit up. Amazing.

A beautiful run on a not so beautiful night. I would thoroughly recommend it and if you take your number to the Forth Inn on the main street you can get a free pint of beer / soft drink.

The winners were John Law  – 44.40 and Catrionas O’Donnell – 49.36

I was 81st place , time 1.08.01 ( 1min better than last year), 245 finishers.

Full results and photos can be found on the glow ape site.
