Dick Wedlock 10k

On 11th may, 5 Maryhill Harriers traversed the city to take part in the annual Dick Wedlock Memorial 10k at Pollok Park. This is a fire service race organised by Strathclyde Fire and Rescue (now Scottish Fire Service) and open to other firefighters from other organisations (England, Germany and Ireland) as well as other running clubs from around Glasgow.

As well as the expected hills that are found within Pollok Park, the 125 runners who’d turned up despite the rain also had to contend with some windy conditions which seemed to present themselves mostly on the longer gradual climbs.

With Gordon Curran racing for the fire service, it was up to Chris Hever, Catriona Nisbet, Craig White and Kenny Angove to team up for Maryhill Harriers
