Clydebank Polaroid 10k

This year’s Clydebank 10K, the 2nd race of the polaroid series, took place in pretty good conditions. The temperature was perfect for running and even the wind seemed to settle for the race. It was the same course as last year, out through the underpass, a loop round the business park along to Dumbarton road and back along the canal (x2). There was 653 runners with the winner being Derek Hawkins (Unattached) in a time of 28.43. It seems the first 6-8 runners took a slightly shorter route at the end which may be the reason for the new course record. The first lady was Jennifer Emsley (Central AC) in a time of 35.16, beating her clubmate, Lyndsey Morrison in a reverse of last week’s results.

The mighty Maryhill Harriers were out in force again and after last week’s amazing results and Gordon’s inspirational performance, everyone was predicting fast times. Amazingly, there were FIVE personal bests. Special mention must go to Craig who smashed his PB by nearly two minutes and Natalie and Catriona who after setting PBs last week, then went on to beat them only seven days later! Well done to everyone, a really special night for the club.
