I signed up for this race ages ago, but checked with Christine first as meant a “whole weekend” of running, got away with this as some her church friend were doing it as well, so I was being a social sole.
Anyway the race is a very simple out and back, the first and last km are on the road, with a small hill, the rest of the route is on a flat dirt track which was once a railway line. I have to say I found the route a bit dull as there were no undulations and not much of a view given it was overcast. It is well organised and there was a goody bag, but I do not need another beanie hat, water bottle or key ring. Christine’s friends however did like the gifts, but they don’t do a lot of racing, or running for that matter.
The race was won by Alan Hume, Central AC in 35:54 and first lady was Karen Kenndey, Carnegie Harriers in 40:38.
I finished 51st in 44:12.
A total of 232 ran the race.
