Kirkintilloch 12.5km

This year’s Kirkintilloch 12.5 km race took place in cold but very sunny conditions. The race was the usual course from Gartconner Primary School, a very undulating loop, along “country roads” up and down several hills. At one stage, it looked like the race might be called off due to ice and there was some large patches on the course. However, the race did go ahead and was won by James Stewart from Victoria Park in a time of 45.45. The 1st lady was Joanna Murphy (Carnegie Harriers) in 49.28. There were 289 finishers. Being one of our merit league races, the mighty blues were out in force with excellent performances in the icy conditions from all:

28th: Andy Sutherland (51.08)
53rd: Scott Coulter (54.48)
65th: Craig White (55.58)
68th: Duncan Riddell (56.32)
105th: Natalie Somerville (59.51)
166th: Chris Hever (64.58)
176th: Catriona Nisbet (66.10)
240th: Margaret Peebles (74.04)
249th: Liz Towers (75.34)

Many thanks to the Kirkintilloch Olympians for a well-organised race and the many marshalls for standing for so long in the cold cheering us on.
