Clydebank 10k

In contrast to last week’s blistering heat(!) of the Helensburgh 10K, last night’s Clydebank 10K, the second race of the Polaroid 10K series was run in relatively cool conditions. The heavy and at times torrential rain of yesterday evening cleared in time to leave nearly perfect running conditions. The course was the same as it has been for the last few years, two laps of the business park, Singer Road and the canal. The race was completed by 797 runners and was won by Tewodle Mengisteab of Shettleston Harriers in a time of 30.46. Following up her win from last week, Jennifer Wetton of Central AC won this week’s ladies race as well in a time of 35.38. Katie White of Garscube Harriers also finished with the same time but was awarded second for crossing the line after Jennifer.
The Clydebank 10K is a key race in our merit league and also the 10K championship race. This year the 10K championship was won by Andy Sutherland.
The results for the Harriers are below:

60th: Andy Sutherland (36.50)- Men’s 10K Champion
112th: Craig White (39.24)
133rd: Kieran Sulliven (39.55)- PB
157th: Craig Gilmour (40.39)

Everyone put in a good shift last night, but special mention to Kieran Sulliven for smashing his PB by around 50 seconds and joining the sub-40 minute 10K gang. Many thanks to Clydesdale Harriers for organising the race and providing marshalls and also to Gordon for cheering us on.
