Vale of Leven 10k

This was the fourth and final leg of the 30th anniversary Polaroid Series. This year’s Vale of Leven 10K had a completely different course, with a narrow start in Balloch country park before the only traditional part of the race, the 1K climb to the top of the park. From there is was back down the hill and through Balloch, before an out and back along the river and finishing another loop of the park. Despite the course being short (9.97 km), the incredibly hot weather had an effect on everyone’s time particularly after the hill climb at the start. Tewodle Mengisteab of Shettleston won his third race of the series in a time of 30.42, while Jennifer Wetton of Central AC won her fourth race and a whitewash of the series in a time of 35.30.
In a warm up to Tuesday’s final club race of the season, four harriers completed the course:

56th: Andrew Sutherland (38.51)
106th: Craig White (40.45)
109th: Craig Gilmour (40.55)
157th: Scott Coulter (42.59)

A total of 734 runners braved the heat and managed to finish the course. Many thanks to the organisers for another fantastic series and hopefully, the four 10K races will be back next year in another guise.
