Kirkintilloch 10k

Last night was this year’s Kirkintilloch 10K. In previous years, this race has always coincided with really hot weather which has made for a really humid race along the canal. However, this year, after some heavy showers, the weather was perfect for running. The course was the usual route, starting near St. Ninian’s High School, through the streets of Kirkie and then down onto the canal. The course then followed the canal until about 5K where it then did a loop round Cadder Rd, Kirkintilloch Rd and Torrence Rd, before heading back onto the canal towards Kirkie for the last 3K. The race was won by Daniel Bradford (Shettleston Harriers) in a time of 31.33 and first female was Katie White (Garscube Harriers) in a time of 36.12. Despite the Brian Goodwin 10K taking place today, there was still a good turnout with 210 runners completing the course. Most of the Maryhill Harriers opted for the free pint and a burger at the Brian Goodwin tonight but there was still two of the mighty blue running:

14th: Andy Sutherland (37.02)

32nd: Kevin Campbell (40.00)

Well done to Kevin who was running in his first proper 10K road race and who set an excellent first time. Many thanks to Kirkintilloch Olympians for a well-organised and well-marshalled race.
