Drymen 10k

Sat 27th August saw the big rematch between Raymond & me at the Blythswood Care Run for Romania fundraiser. I’m sure everyone locally will be familiar with the work of this organisation.
Sat saw a typical warm humid August day, which got quite oppressive in the very muddy forest section of this hill race masquerading as a road race. (Where was Duncan?!)
Raymond was away like a racing snake on the downhill start from Drymen Primary, & along to Milton of Buchanan, where the route heads N ish up a steep climb through muddy trails to meet the WHW route through what’s left of the Garadhban forest, & loop back to finish on the 2k downhill stretch of road to Drymen.
On this section in 2008, I caught up with Raymond, but no chance this time! I walked half the climb. He finished in 37th from 90 starters, in 51.29, faster than before, an excellent time in the conditions, & relative to the winning time of 38.01 by Mark Walsh. First lady was Pamela McCrossan, 7th overall in 42.39. John Kennedy of C’dale, a former Maryhill Harrier, ran well, 5th in 39.22.
I finished 59th, in 57.17, setting yet another new PW!
An extremely enjoyable outing; warm, sunny, thundery rain held off, great scenery, & yet another comeback for me from injury, not running related this time!
Sorry for late posting of report, results out only this am.
