Pollok Parkrun

On New Years day, as everyone else festered in hangover hell, I took part in the parkrun in Pollok. Having just came off night-shift and committed to starting the year as I intended to continue, I joined the other 101 crazies gathered in a frozen park.
As the paths in the park were still dangerously frozen from the prolonged cold spell, the course had to be moved onto the nearby grassy field. The alternative 5km course consisted of 5 laps, which were a U-shaped up-and-down (10 ups and 10 downs to be precise).
Quickly turning into a mud-bath the course became very difficult to run, especially as I forgot to lift my Xcountry spikes.
This made it difficult to get any speed up, and with heavy legs I managed to finish in 28th place in a time of 24:05.
