This race took place in and around Garscube estate in near perfect conditions,except for a few puddles and leaves. A fantastic 12 Maryhill Harriers took part, the most I’ve seen in any one race as individuals, keeping up the great competitive element seen around the club these days. The race was won by Chris McKay of Inverclyde in a staggering 23.57m, with the first female Elspeth Curran of Glasgow University completing in 27.44m.
The Harriers had a few individual battles going on throughout the race, with the first male home being Andy Sutherland in a very fast race pb of 31.09m, with Caroline Jones first female in another race pb of 33.46m. There was also race pb’s for Gordon Curran, Sam Thompson, Raymond Stevenson, George Young, Caroline Hassan and Maggie Darroch, so a great result for the Harriers contingent.
