Dalbeattie Hardrock Challenge

After the MacAndrew relays on Saturday I went down to my home town of Dalbeattie to take part in the Hardrock Challenge on Sunday morning.

This is an off road duathalon, consisting of a 10 mile trail run, followed by a 16 mile mountain bike ride. You can either do the whole thing or enter as a team of two, one person doing the run and the other doing the bike ride.

I was doing it as a team with my mate Guy, with whom I have done this event many times before.

Weather conditions were good for running, cool and damp, not so good for biking, the course was very slippy apparently.

The first individual home was Jack Taylor in a combined time of 2:21:45, the first female was Kerry MacPhee in a time of 02:50:05.

The first team to complete were Stephen Smith/Paul Crotty in a time of 02:16:30.

I did the run in 1:14:19 and Guy did the cycle in 01:33:33 to give us 21st place out of 45 male teams with a time of 02:47:52.

The first female team home was Crinan Gould/Sam Hill in a time of 03:01:00.

The first mixed team back were Joasia Zakrzewski/Ross Green in a time of 02:17:08. Joasia has won prizes at recent Nigel Barge’s
