Christmas Handicap

This year’s seniors Christmas handicap 5K race took place in cold icy conditions with a heavy sleety shower in the middle of the race, which kept runners and race officials nice and cool!

The course was the usual 2 lap circuit of Acre Path, Maryhill Road and Caldercuilt Road. The course is pretty undulating which makes it pretty difficult to run a PB. Despite this, today’s winner of the race and the Christmas Handicap Shield was ladies captain Catriona Nisbet who won in a PB time of 22.11.

The fastest run of the day and another PB was by young Andrew Stevenson in a very respectable 19.30 (considering the course and conditions). Race spectators and officials enjoyed the finish with some interesting battles. Kenny managed to hold off John in the final 50 metres and Linda and Andrew finished together.

Below is the overall times, followed by the personal times:1st: Catriona Nisbet 25.41 (22.11 PB)
2nd Caroline Hever 26.13 (24.33)
3rd Kenny Stevenson 26.31 (24.01)
