This years Nigel Barge 10K took place in excellent conditions for running, with it being a nice cool day with very little wind. Due to the unavailability of the science park, the race start and finish was behind the football pitches, which made for a nice downhill start and a slightly shorter course. Apart from that it was the usual challenging two-lap route through Garscube Estate, down Switchback Road, along Temple Road, through Dawsholm Park and finishing along Maryhill Road.
This year, with the race being on a Sunday, we were competing with Mothers Day, the Alloa Half Marathon and the Scottish League Cup Final.
Despite all this, 66 runners turned up for a very enjoyable, well-organised race with an excellent course. The race was won by Michael Deason (Shettleston Harriers) in a time of 31.49. First lady home was Lyndsay Morrison (Central AC) in 35.55. The menss team prize was won by a very strong team from Ronhill Cambuslang Harriers. There was a great turnout from the mighty blues.
