Nigel Barge 10k

This years Nigel Barge 10K took place in excellent conditions for running, with it being a nice cool day with very little wind. Due to the unavailability of the science park, the race start and finish was behind the football pitches, which made for a nice downhill start and a slightly shorter course. Apart from that it was the usual challenging two-lap route through Garscube Estate, down Switchback Road, along Temple Road, through Dawsholm Park and finishing along Maryhill Road.

This year, with the race being on a Sunday, we were competing with Mothers Day, the Alloa Half Marathon and the Scottish League Cup Final.

Despite all this, 66 runners turned up for a very enjoyable, well-organised race with an excellent course. The race was won by Michael Deason (Shettleston Harriers) in a time of 31.49. First lady home was Lyndsay Morrison (Central AC) in 35.55. The menss team prize was won by a very strong team from Ronhill Cambuslang Harriers. There was a great turnout from the mighty blues. The results are:

15th Andy Sutherland (37.31)
18th Craig White (38.03)
19th Alan Richardson (38.30)
22nd Kieran Sullivan (40.53)
30th Craig Gilmour (42.49)
33rd Andrew Stevenson (43.47)
40th Ben Watson (46.39)
41st Chris Hever (46.51)
58th James Prior (52.52)
64th Heather Stevenson (62.05)

Special mention to all the Harriers, as well as friends and family for helping organise, marshal, bake cakes etc. Everyones contribution to make the race run smoothly was very much appreciated.
