Highland Fling Relay As with every year the relay team that toes the line for the HF Relay is not the original line up this year was no exception and the “Marydolls” consisted of Caroline and Chris, with Michael and Liz making their Fling debuts.
Caroline took off on the 1st leg from Milngavie to Drymen (12.3 mls) and finished , without falling, in a great time of 1hr 54m putting us in 21st position from the 49 starters.
I took over at Drymen and “ran” over Conic Hill to Rowardennan(14.7 mls), where I met Margaret after recognizing her calves powering up in front of me , later on I managed to fall twice , first like a King Edward then like a Maris Piper but finished well happy in 2hrs 45m, though dropping a few places to 26th.
Next up was Michael who ran the notorious Loch side section from Rowardennan to Beinglas Farm (13.7 mls) running well in 2hrs 45m and really enjoying the experience and the route while gaining a few places back to 21st.
Then after a long day Liz took over, running from Beinglas Farm to the finish in Tyndrum (12.3mls) in 2hrs 18m and like Michael no mishaps and really enjoying the experience and the route, coming home smiling in a very creditable 24th position overall (9hrs 50m).
We were supported throughout the day by the two blossoming lovelies Cat and Natalie and at various points by Duncan and bike and also Tom who popped out a bush with water just when i needed it. Thanks very much all it was greatly appreciated and nice to see you all.
