George Cummings Road Relay

We had a really good turnout for this event two full teams plus me running for a composite team gave us nine participants in all. The course was quite undulating throughout but had a good downhill finish at the end.

Andy had picked two evenly matched teams to give a bit of an edge to the day with the difference between the two teams in the end coming down to Craig W’s injury slowing him down a bit. On the bright side everyone else ran well with particular mention to Alan and young James Prior (not to be confused with that old guy with the beard) who posted very good times. Meanwhile I was guesting with Cambuslang in a composite team and needless to say I’ll not be getting asked back, but I enjoyed my moment of glory starting off the 3rd leg in 5th position before being overtaken by what seemed like a heard of horses.

The event was won by Shettleston Harriers (52:34) with Kilbarchan winning the ladies event (47:07) over 3 legs. There were 41 complete teams who finished the men’s event with 17 complete ladies teams.
