The monthly 3k on the Green race took place on Friday, August 30th at lunch time from the usual starting place at McLennan Arch in Glasgow Green.
The course is flat and heads along the river for just over 1.5 km before a sharp turn and back almost to the Arch to finish. I was the sole Maryhill runner this month and I put absolutely everything I had into this difficult little distance, finishing in 3rd place with a time of 9:48; 20 seconds faster than first attempt 2 months previously. I couldn’t even break back into a jog to drag myself back up High St to the office afterwards, and my legs were sore for days!
The race was won by Darran Muir of Law in 9:37, and the first female was Lesley Chisholm of Garscube in 10:12, just outside her own female course record of 10:08.
