The first leg of this year’s Polaroid 10K series took place in Helensburgh last Thursday. The weather was warm and humid but with very little wind. The race as usual started along from the school on Cardross Road.

There was a few twists and turns in the first 1K before long straights West before turning coming all the way back finishing at the school. As usual, it’s a nice flatish course with quite a lot of support all the way round. As always, there was an excellent goody bag at the end with plenty of water. The highlight for me was that Sweatshop were there selling running shoes for only £20! I think most of the Harriers took advantage of this.
Anyway, the race was won by Negasi Tesfaldet Desta (Shettleston Harriers) in a time of 30.50. The first lady home was Lyndsay Morrision (Central AC) in 33rd position in a time of 35.57.
The results for the Maryhill Harriers taking part were:

51st Craig White (37.01)
59th Andy Sutherland (37.38)
126th Natalie Haran (40.55)
369th Catriona Nisbet (48.04)
637th Fletcher Murdoch (57.50)

There were 766 runners.
