The 2nd race in this year’s Polaroid series took place last night in Clydebank.
After a heavy rain shower just before the race, conditions dried a little to make for a relatively comfortable but slightly humid race. The course was the same as the last two years, two laps out through the underpass, round the business park along to Dumbarton road and back along the canal.
For the second polaroid in a row, the race was won by Negasi Tesfaldet Desta (Shettleston Harriers) in a time of 30.31. First lady home in 40th place was Jennifer Emsley (Central AC) in 35.43.
This year, the Clydebank 10K was our 10K club championship and so quite a few Harriers were competing. Both myself and Craig ran off too fast (3.20 for both of the first 2Ks) and ended up have quite a grim(!) experience for the last 5-6K. However, there were some outstanding performances from the others with PBs for Kieran, Michael and Chris. Also, special mention to Natalie who came home as 12th lady which is an excellent performance for a particularly strong and competitive field (697 runners!).
Many thanks to Linda, John and Caroline for cheering us round the course, and to Gordon for driving us all towards the finish line during the final 400M.
