The Bella Belter 10k on Thursday 3rd August saw Chris H, Keiran, and Kevin make their way to Pollok Park for the final race of the Tour of Clydeside. They were joined by Craig W who had completed the previous races of the Tour and was looking to make it 5 out of 5. Craig was sitting in 17th position with only a seven second gap to 16th.
After catching up with some former Harriers, it was time to pin the numbers, get a quick warm up and check out the opposition at the start line. The course had been changed from last year and all running took place within Pollok Park instead of the Brian Goodwin course. This meant there were a few wee hills to contend with.
It was a tough couple of laps but in nice surroundings. We were careful not to drown ourselves drinking water out of the pint tumblers as we ran past the water stations. Kevin was the first Harrier home, followed by Craig, Kieran then Chris.
Big question was, did Craig make up ground on his competition?
He did, well done Craig finishing 16th overall with a collective time of 2:48:18 from the five races.
The race was won by Scott Thomson of Lasswade Athletics Club in 31:53. First lady was Fiona Matheson of Falkirk Victoria Harriers in 36:49.
The Tour of Clydeside was won by Kieran Cooper, who became the youngest ever winner of the series with an overall time of 2:18:36.
