Last night was the club’s Trail (Hill) Race and for once the weather wasn’t baking hot. Instead we had nice sunny conditions with a cool breeze. The course was the same as the last few years, a 11K route out along the steadily rising Campsie Dene Road from the war memorial start in Blanefield, before a rapid downhill around the Glengoyne distillery and then back along the West Highland Way, which contains quite a few energy sapping hills. This year nobody really got lost and no farmers were trying to shoot us.
The race was won by Andy Sutherland and the ladies trophy was won by Linda Sinclair.
st Andy Sutherland (45.00-Guess)- Men’s Trail Race champion
nd Craig White (51.36)
rd Scott Coulter (52.20)
th Craig Gilmour (54.30)
th Chris Hever (1.02.28)
th James Prior (1.02.30)
th Kenny Henderson (1.02.40)
th Linda Sinclair (1.04.00)- Ladies trail race champion
th Caroline Hever (1.05.02)
th Mick McCartney (1.05.13)
th Margaret Peebles (1.05.23)
th Joe McCartney (1.06.00)
The cooler conditions meant some much faster times than previous years for this course, but special mentions to Scott Coulter who’s overall times continue to improve and Chris Hever who took 9 minutes off last year’s time and managed to hold off his two adversaries, Kenny and James in a sprint finish to come home in 5th place.
